WHAT IS ESL?
SAM's ESL is a skill based subject that all students take during the course of their one year study of the program. This subject is not a learning subject where you will be asked to memorize notes. It is a skill base subject meaning you will learn specific language and thinking skills that you will then apply in a variety of situations.
| writing essays for specific purposes (e.g. info-domain, or research study) |
| writing creative pieces such as narrative (stories), letters (persuasive), descriptive and reflective |
| analyzing and synthesizing information from a variety of sources (used in research and viva) |
| critically thinking about issues and being able to discuss these issues in depth after having analyzed the information given and researched (themes used for viva and CR's, plus Research Study and Viva)---YES! You will have to talk in class. |
